Life Skills

About this department

We have recently opened a Life Skills department. We want to expand the skills we offer and also help our trainees to be more independent. We will offer training to use household items including a washing machine, an iron, microwave, cooker, to name a few.

We also are working with a local nurse to have health and hygiene discussions along with a counsellor who visits often. We allow all trainees and staff the opportunity to chat to the counsellor or the nurse in confidence if they feel they would like to but it is not compulsory.

The life Skills opportunities are available to all those working with Next Steps but if you feel you know someone who would particularly benefit or be interested in developing their skills, we can discuss this and will ensure they spend time here.
