About Next Steps Education & Training

Next Steps Education & Training is committed to empowering individuals with special education needs. Working closely with the individual, their families and professionals, we aim to provide the highest training that is both meaningful and person-centered.

We have two pathways: “Pathways to Independence” and “Pathway to Employment” The Independence pathway provides skills to individuals that will allow them to live a more independent life.

With our “life skills” education sessions you will develop important skills to work towards becoming more independent:


  • Travel Training

  • Money Management

  • Personal & professional relationship Training

  • Importance of time keeping

Life skills training: 

Part of the “ pathway to independence” training awards include: 


  • Aware of bullying and its effects 

  • Caring for ourselves 

  • Calendar and time 

  • Managing personal finance 

  • Road safety and travel training 

  • Sexual health awareness, relationships and contraception 


Preparing for work: 

At Next Steps Education and training we are able to work with you to create specific awards relating to your needs. 


Learning support with Next Steps: 


The pathway to employment includes independence training plus key skills and knowledge for progressing into the workforce. 


Under the AQA Unit Award Scheme, we are able to evidence the achievements of individuals from a real experience perspective. With demonstrable evidence, we are able to show employees your skills. 

Next Steps education and training provides a wide range of training and education to meet individual needs: career support, job application and interview, training. 

Through our awards scheme you will learn: 

  • How to choose a career and employ-ability

  • Employment rights and responsibilities

  • Complete a CV

  • Applying for employment 

  • Develop interviewing and communication skills 

  • Working as part of a team

At Next Steps we use the AQA Unit Award Scheme to record student achievements on our courses. We are also proud to be part of the “Disability Confident Scheme”


Next Steps Development works with adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues and complex health needs.

Our day placement costs £60.00 per day + VAT from 9am - 4pm. Our small daily charge is to fund the tailored support for individual's to develop the skills identified in their personal development plan. The materials, site costs, transport and all other running costs are funded by Next Steps Development through fundraising and charitable donations.
